Donations to The Monarch School & Institute
Providing Therapeutic Education to Individuals with Neurological Differences
The Monarch School and Institute is a unique educational facility that caters to learners with neurological differences. It is their mission to provide a transformative learning environment through innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, learning disabilities, Tourette Syndrome, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury, and seizure disorders. Through Monarch’s education, learners empower themselves to discover their gifts, study vital topics in a supportive environment, and develop into important contributors to society. It’s a testament to the Monarch School’s incredible vision and execution that the Arnold & Itkin Foundation has donated more than $100,000 to the institute on two separate occasions.

Our donations include:
- $100,000 in December 2016
- $25,000 in May 2018
- $100,000 in May 2020
- $125,000 in June 2021
The Naming of the Living Building Classroom
In December 2016, the Arnold & Itkin Foundation donated $100,000 to the Monarch School and Institute to develop the Living Building Classroom. The LBC is a laboratory where students study ecological conservation and measures to achieve net-zero energy and water performance. Topics of study include water harvesting, wind energy, and other areas of conservation.
In recognition of our contribution, the school gave us the privilege of naming the Living Building Classroom. On December 14, 2017, Kurt and Tara Arnold and Jason and Kisha Itkin were invited to the school’s campus to attend a naming ceremony. The day included the unveiling of a new plaque on the Living Building Classroom building to showcase Arnold & Itkin LLP as the donor.
The $100,000 Donation to Maintain Enrollment
In 2020, the Monarch School—like many others—was facing a series of major setbacks related to the global pandemic and economic recession. As a consequence, the school was weighing the tough decision of whether to stop enrollment, taking away important educational services from the Houston community. To ensure that the Monarch School would keep its doors open and maintain enrollment, we provided a $100,000 donation. The donation allowed the school to provide cutting-edge education to its learners without compromise. In recognition of our gift, the Monarch School named the Arnold & Itkin Foundation its honoree at its annual Transforming Lives Celebration in March 2021.
At the Arnold & Itkin Foundation, we believe that The Monarch School’s mission and values align closely with our own, and we are proud to provide our support in the pursuit of their goals. We consider four donations totaling $350,000 a small gift for the honor of being a part of Monarch’s incredible work.
